?> December: A Season of Celebration for Some, Survival for Others – Bless Up Jamaica

December is supposed to be a month of joy, family, and abundance.

But for thousands of families in Jamaica, December came with empty plates and broken homes.

While the world decorated trees and exchanged gifts, parents in hurricane-affected communities faced impossible choices: feed their children today or save what little they had for tomorrow. Many couldn’t do either. Jobs were still gone. Markets hadn’t reopened. Aid had slowed as global attention shifted elsewhere.

Babies were dying—not from rare diseases, but from hunger, dehydration, and infections caused by unsafe living conditions. Mothers skipped meals so their children could eat. Fathers searched endlessly for work that simply didn’t exist.

The media wasn’t there anymore to tell these stories.

But the need was—and still is—overwhelming.
